Hello I'm a new member and recently purchased a lawnboy which I love! Thought I would share some pictures and also see what model this could be or the year? Looking forward to meeting new friends on this forum. Thank you

I am not 100% sure, but that mower appears to be a 1986 model 6230 Commercial. It has the Lawn Boy "F" engine, which in my opinion, was the best 2-cycle engine they ever made. Overall, it looks to be in great shape.

Thx a lot! I have a question though, the deck and handle on this one is a pain. Too cumbersome and heavy. Is there another deck or model you recommend that I can swap the motor on? What do you consider a great deck? Thanks again 2smoked

Wow that thing is clean! Very good score! Can't recall seeing a handle like that on a lawnboy. Is that original?

Because of the weight and the long horizontal part of the handle design, those type of Lawn Boys were affectionately (or unaffectionately) known as "school bus models"--like trying to maneuver a long, heavy school bus. Perhaps the engineers and designers thought that this design would make it easier to mow under trees and bushes. But I'll bet they never tried using one it the real world. From what I have read, this design was not a fan favorite.

I would think that there is another Lawn Boy deck and muffler plate that would except your motor, maybe an earlier commercial "F" engine model. Are there other forum members out there who have done this?:anyone
