Murray 10/30 Old

I have a 10/30 Murray 12 or 15 years old(can't really tell) it was running good, till now,every time i try to engage the blades it Stops, so i wonder if it's any cain of switch provoking that??
Also, has a brand new carburetor/fuel filter/spark plug. Hope i can hear from someone soon!!! Thanks

Does the engine strain or labor before it dies? If so, the problem is in the engagement mechanics.
