Mulch fan, use or not

I had a first generation mulch mower 94 4.5 that used the fan attached below the blade, I have upgraded to a 6.5 duraforce that did not have a fan. Does it make that much of a difference? I still have the fan.

I believe they all came with the mulch fan from the V series up. However, I don't like the fan, because I don't mulch. I like the way the lawnboy, with a lawnboy blade fans the clippings out nice and smooth.
