Mower will not run at full throttle

I had an issue with my mower searching like in this video Troy Built Pony 17 HP Briggs & Stratton Governor/Idle Issues - YouTube I ordered a carb kit and replaces all the gaskets, needle, pins, springs and cleaned the carb with Carb cleaner. I was unable to change the welch plug due to not having anything to remove the old one (at that time). I made sure to spray out every porthole I could see. While I was at it, I replaced the spark plug and oil, checked the rocker arms (shaft was loose earlier in the year) and because I thought I smelled gas in the oil, added a fuel shut off valve and new fuel filter. The mower now cranks and runs great at low and mid throttle, but when I put it in rabbit, it dies. Once it dies, it is hard to crank back up, but once I do it does the same, dies at full throttle. I recenlt switched to non ethonl gas.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I am trying to get this running before the Lawn Mower Parade this Saturday, yes I live in a small town

I only see guys complain abut two things on Briggs that do that. The carb is junk and needs replaced on the twins as they will only idle. On the singles it is a leak on the intake somewhere. Both seem to take new stuff.

Sounds like the high speed jet is clogged in the carb just spraying wont work you need to run a paper clip through it to clean the junk out of it.

Try with fuel mixture needle to adjust.

I'd make sure you have adequate fuel flow to the carburetor,there's no kinks in the fuel line,the fuel pickup in the tank is clear,and not blocked,and your fuel filter is clear,if you have a fuel pump it's functioning properly,and lastly your fuel tank vent is functioning...

I forgot to mention, I did run a thin wire through every orifice I could see.

When I adjust it in, the motor quits and adjusting it out revs the engine up but still dies at full throttle. I will try again. Thanks!

New fuel line and filter, it comes directly from the bottom of the tank, no pump. I will have to check the vent though, never thought of that.

Check the vented fuel cap. Maybe try replace new one.

take the carb off soak it in a 50/50 mix of high test and sea foam for a few hrs then blow it out with compressed air ...should clan up ..Make sure all jets and holes are clean
