I have what I belive is a 25hp Kohler motor on an old Simplicity Derby Stallion. Motor has been flooding while sitting causing the garage to stink then started skipping the other day and when I put my finger over the rubber line into the air cleaner the skip went away. The skip eventually cleared itself up. Any ideas on what it may be? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You have gas in the oil, and when it is running it is pulling gas fumes from the crankcase causing a semi flooding situation. Need to remove clean and install a carb repair kit and then change the oil and filter.

Thanks for your reply. Where would I find the stamp on the motor so I can order parts? The plastic on top is so faded I can't read anything.

Bought this zero turn for 1k when I bought property to build on. I have mowed rocks, stumps, it seconed as a brush hog. I want to upgrade but I need to get at least one more year out of it.

That air intake looks more like a Briggs. Does the air filter have a suitcase type handle. If so then the engine model information should be on the valve cover opposite the head with the fuel pump.

I was incorrect. It is a Briggs motor. I'm watching the baby I'll have to pull the car out to get a better look at the motor numbers.

That is the EPA tag and doesn't mean anything except to them. We need the numbers stamped into the metal valve cover.
