Help. mower will not start. have new fuel, new plug. fire going all the way thru plug. can spray starting fluid in cylinder with no help. have fire, have fuel, in time (checked shear pin), have compression. but no start. belonged to my late wife, so has great sentimental value, loaned to my son for two seasons, when i got it back, it had this problem. battery will not hold a charge, but can put it on trickle charger overnite and it spins over great. could that be the problem? not enough amps in battery? don't want to spend money on battery if i have another problem. any help is greatly appreciated!

to follow up. model# is 917 272751. serial # is 060603a026057. left it on trickle charger all nite. spins over but on compression stroke, has solid thunk and stops spinning. let off for a second and will spin over again. when it does spin over it doesn't sound like it is even trying to start. any ideas at all?

Need to check compression - If not building enough, standard rules of fuel + fire = run will not apply - - - has solid thunk and stops spinning. Doesn't sound well :( - - Compession level will vary depending on engine, need specs for your type/size - just google What should compression be for (insert your engine manufac, h/p)
