Looking at two used Craftsman mowers help

I know nothing about lawn tractors and looking for some advise. A local small engine repair man has two early 2000 craftsman mowers for 400 each One is a DYT 4000 the other a GT 3000.
Both have 48 inch cutting decks the DYT has a replaced 24hp Briggs in it and the GT has a Kohler 23hp both seems to be in fair shape cosmetically and good shape mechanically. I am just not sure which one would be the best for the long run.

I would go for the Kohler. The Briggs are good but I believe the Kohlers are better. I also prefer the horizontal engines. I have both a 14 hp and a 20 hp Briggs. Also a 18 hp Kohler.

Plus the GT3000 should be a bit heavier built as it's a garden tractor, unlike the lighter duty lawn tractor...
