Repairs LB Silver Pro Series Commercial

Good Morning,

Have a LB Silver Pro Series, model 10324, with self propel issues. When self propel is engaged it is fine. When the handle is released to disengage, occasionally is doesn't roll freely. Very similar to not pushing it that extra couple inches prior to pulling it back towards you when it doesn't disengage completely. Wheels have been pulled, gears cleaned up and re-greased, grease is added at the lube points yearly during PM. Have been trouble shooting for a week w/o any luck.....Any thought.....Thanks....

Did u remove the gears? If not, I would try removing the gears and cleaning all the old grease out. Under the gears there is a key and a spring. Dirt and dried out grease can cause the key to not fully disengage when trying to roll the mower backwards. Remember the order of installation on the parts you remove. There is a sequence of c clips, washers, springs and keys.

I have removed the wheels and cleaned up the gears on both the wheels and on the axle. Not familiar the key and spring. I am guessing that the key/spring is part of the axle assembly which is past the wheel gears, (working from the outside in). Are you aware of a video that shows the key/spring? Is there a key/spring assembly on both sides of the axle or just one side

I don't know of a video. There is a c-clip that holds the gear on the axle. If you remove that clip you can slide the gear off the axle. You will find the key underneath the gear. The spring is down in the key slot, probably covered in grease.

Pulled both gears up to and including the keys, cleaned up and greased on left. Right, something just didn't look right, changed the key and gear out. Took it for a test spin, so far so good. Will change out left over the winter while doing PM. Pretty much thinking you are da man....Thanks
