Kohler problems on the snapper

I started the snapper to have it start shooting fuel in large amounts out the muffler. I mean like you would have turned a pump on and it was purging to pump water from a pond. Then it died, it will start still but not stay running and now smokes like crazy and the inside of the muffler is coated with what appears to be oil and gas mixed. When I checked the oil there appears to be gas in it now, since it is very thin as in well "gas down" like watered down. Any idea what the freak just happen it ran fine just last week to cut the grass?

Needle valve not sealing in carb, which resulting in filling the engine with gas. Will need to remove carb, clean, good idea to install carb kit, then change oil.

Okay that did it, I cleaned and fix the carb, then I also added a shut off valve just after the tank so this cannot happen again. Fresh oil and filter and it was ready to go.

Just make darn sure that you got all of the gas out of the crankcase. My neighbor didn't when the same thing happened on his rider, and blew up the motor within minutes. I'd run it no-load for a few minutes and then change the oil again just to be sure. And good call on the shutoff valve - I installed close to a dozen of them on various pieces of equipment last season. Now, if I could just get people to USE them! :laughing:
