Engine is on a Wright mower. Will start up and run smoothly for a few hours or only for a few minutes. When engine dies, its dead (no sputtering). Engine will not immediately start back up but, if I wait about 10 minutes, engine will start up and run smoothly until problem re-occurs. Initially, I changed the fuel filter which seemed to solve the problem as the engine ran well for a few hours. Next morning, engine started right up and ran smoothly for about 15 minutes then died. Engine cranked nicely so its not an safety shut-down issure but wouldn't start. 10 minutes later it started right up and I put it into the shop. Fuel line to carburetor in good shape with good flow. Figure if it was the fuel pump the engine would sputter before shutting down. Thinking the carb float is sticking but removing the carb is a hassel. Any thoughts will be appreciated before I disassemble the carb.

Sounds like a plug of crud building up in the fuel tank & blocking the outlet.
You will need to drain the tank, let it dry really well then blow air in there to get the crud out.
Other alternative is the charcoal breather canister is clogged if fitted.
