I have a John Deere LX277 with a kawasaki engine in it and i can not get it to run.

This mower had sit in a shed for about 4 years before I got it. I cleaned the carb and fuel tank. It run good after this and was cutting the grass then it quit.

It has yellowed fuel so I assumed that the tank had lacquered gas that had came loose. I installed a new fuel tank, new fuel hose and filters and it will not start now.

I cleaned the carb again and removed all the jets and made sure they were all clean. The fuel pump it pumping fuel to the carb.

I spray starting fluid in to the carb and it will not start.

I changed the spark plugs and have fire to the them and the motor turns over very strong.

Any help would be appreciated

Pull the flywheel bolt and check the timing key.
If it won't start with fresh plugs and starter fluid / carb cleaner / fuel directly down the plug hole then either the spark is happening at the wrong time or one of the valves is not working.
Usually a bad valve will go bang once and once only where as you generally get 1/2 dozen fires till the fuel runs out .
