My good old John Deere R72 is beginning to steer really hard. Does anyone know where I can get access to an on line service manual so I can try to figure out how to repair my old friend?

That model used a platform common to many models made by JD in the 70s and 80s.... They were very easy to work on, not a lot to the steering, most likely if you look there will be multiple places that you can re-bore and make as new using common bushings.

Fun little rider .. I have a couple of retired Electric 90 models that have the same steering system..
If you were closer you could have the front end parts, I would not be surprised that you will be able to find all the pieces you might need on Ebay... Lots of that type rider around. :smile:KennyV

PS welcome to the Lawn Mower Forum, I see this is your first post... If you do rebuild the front end, take pictures and post as you go....

Have you tried looking for the manual on John Deere's website? There's bound to be something on there, or you could contact someone via their site?
