Hello, suddenly my self propelled craftsman mower only idles when it runs. I was able to get the engine to rev to normal speed by pulling on the little wire that must be the 吐actory set engine-governed speed that the manual refers to. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I really have to take it back to Sears and pay an arm and a leg to have them fix it? My model number on the mower is 917.375500 and it is a 6 HP motor.

Anything you can help me with would be greatly appreciated. I used to carbureted engines, and am fairly handy with a wrench; this is just new territory for me.

Thanks

maybe you hit something that has bent the arm that holds the governor spring or the spring has broken and will need to be replaced.

For now I'll try to replace the spring since it is a cheap fix, but if anyone else has seen this or has thoughts, keep them coming!

Thanks..
