Hey Guys,
I was just given a 15 year old new Generac portable Generator made by Briggs&stratton. My brother-in-law bought it 15 years ago from Home Depot. Brought it home, put gas in it, ran it for 15 minutes, shut it off, drained the gas out and put it in storage.
15 years later he ask me if I wanted it since it's now in the way.
I just started it about an hour ago, let it run for about 8 minutes to warm the oil and drained the break-in oil and replaced it with new oil. It starts fine but will only run on 1/2 choke. It run very smooth on 1/2 choke.
The engine is a 204412 and has 4 setting at the choke. It starts on full choke, or #4, I can move the lever to #3 and it runs great. Move the lever to #2 and the engine is running very rough. Move the choke lever to #1 or the run position and the engine dies.
The generator is putting out 60H/123V
What would you do first?
Any help is welcome.
