mowers been acting up lately - will start and run alright for a while ( deck engaged and mowing ) - then suddenly die . if i shove the handles into neutral and kill the clutch quick shell idle fine - just cant do anything or it dies. any ideas?
Easy things first.
Try loosening the fuel cap.
Some of the Huskies we got here actually breathe down the thread on the filler cap.
Done up too tight & the tanks can not vent and you get an air lock in the fuel tank.
When the blade are running the throttle is opened fairly wide so the mower needs more fuel.
Shut down & the engine goes into fast idle and needs a lot less fuel so will run a reduced fuel flow.

The second post is substantially different to the first.
Yes you have an electrical problem.
PIA to diagnose.
Get a wiring diagram and check each wire.
Check all the switches.
Sounds most likely a duff seat switch, or the wires going to or from it.
