Hi All - Need some advice .... I have a 2006 Huskee Garden Tractor Briggs and Statton and had about 700 dollars worth of repairs done over the winter (2014) valve cover gaskets, valve adjustments, new gas tank and some belts, bolts & misc deck repairs etc. After mowing a few times this spring I noticed oil pooling on the PTO spindle just under the engine about the size of a quarter - oil was not there/leaking last summer.
I did a few tests on where I think the oil may be coming from and determined after cleaning old gunk and placing a paper towel on/under various parts of the engine that it is coming from the side of the engine bottom right, just under and up from the oil drain valve at the front right corner. If I had to guess I would say the engine is leaking approx 1/2 a tablespoon a week. All other areas - left side where the oil filter are do not seem to be leaking oil. I might add the mower and engine are running fine (checking oil level every week) but I am trying to head off a major #fail!!!!
Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be the cause? Mower is old, but hearty, asked to do more than it's share and I take pretty good care of it. I am hoping to get a few more summers out of it! Thoughts?
Thanks for your help!
