The pulley on the transmission is flopping around. Tried tightening the nut but I believe it is as tight as it will go. Maybe the woodruff key has broken? Or is this more serious and not worth fixing? If I attempt to fix, what is the procedure for removing the transmission? I believe it is a gear transmission (3 speeds).

There is a woodruff key on the input shaft of the transmission; the input pulley or shaft may be excessively worn, or the key damaged/sheared. How new/old is the belt?

Removal of the transmission is a bit of a procedure; you should get the Honda factory shop manual to have step-by-step. Honda sells them on eBay and Amazon, free shipping and updates for 3 years...

Thank you for your assistance!! I will probably take it to a dealer for repair, if repairable. It is about 12 years old.
