how to find reputable local mechanics to repair mowers in shoreline CT?

I have a John Deere riding mower and a Poulon Pro assisted push mower.
The John Deere has a wiring and battery problem; the poulon pro has a starting problem.
I live in southern central shoreline CT and cannot find anyone to come to my house to repair in a timely fashion.
I do not have a flatbed trailer or a truck or a car with a hitch on it.
Any helpful suggestions?

I think most repair shops will pick up and deliver. I just do a part time small repair shop business and pick up and deliver.

Out of the 5 shops around here only one picks up for free. They are so busy he had to hire 2 more guys. You would think the other shops world catch on.

That sure sounds good if you don't have to travel very far, free pick up. Nothing is free. With my time and price of gas I just can't afford free pick-up. I charge a 20 dollar fee for pick up and delivery. I not making money at that amount. That sure has to be cheaper for a customer then to rent or buy a trailer or pick-up truck just to bring me a repair job. I find in this part of neighbor hood mower repair shops can't make a go of it much less hire, keep, and pay a top rate mechanic. Now I said repair shops not dealers.

It seems to work for them with the free pick up.

I can see why you would need to charge for pick up and drop off as you do it more as a hobby and for friends.

This guy just stays busy. He is a shop I don't send anyone to a dealer over a hometown shop.

I'm doing this as an almost full-time 'hobby' as well but, I have to draw the line when it comes to traveling 20 miles one way to pick up even a donor or $10 small engine.. That comes to an easy $8-10 in gas plus at least an hour out of my day lost..

If I can schedule multiple pickups in one area, I'll do that. I keep a list of folks that I've talked to and so far they're good with that.

I had one guy that was going to trade me a practically new Poulan Pro chainsaw for a donor edger that I picked up and spent some time on it getting it running and looking good.. But, he was an hour away and that's definitely costly when it comes to gas and time used..
