So I just bought an extra clean HR215 SXA. My question is do I need to bother buying a mulching kit for it? (It came with the mulch plug) My HRR216 has no problems mulching my front yard when the grass is dry, but will the GXV140 be able to handle it?

If you have 2 blades under deck it mulch as good as your other HRR .
If you have only 1 high lift blade you still can mulch, the clipping not as fine as Hrr ,need to keep blade sharp
To complete mulching kit you only need a spacer 72532-VA3-S00,upper mulching blade 72531-VA3-S00.2 longer bolts 10x30 mm and 2 10mm washers .You already have the standard high lift blade 72511-VA2-690 and mulch plug
Enjoy your HR215

Should orta do a b=good job with the plug and current blade.
Centipede doesn't grow too high to begin with and has a fine blade.
I love the stuff and an trying to get it to spread as much as I can here in Southern Mississippi.

My only other comment: ROLL TIDE ROLL !!

Depends on your zone. In east to SE Texas centipede should do fine.
It loves sun and moderately wear tolerant.
Low growing, fairly fine texture, low fertility and water requirements.
Can be seeded, sprigged or sod.
