Grasshopper 718 Re~Power

Has anybody ever re~powered a Grasshopper 718 with a Honda GX690? I am in the middle of this project and could use some advice on where to get adapters.

I have seen a 718 that was repowered with a 23HP Predator from Harbor Freight. He did a good job making his own mounts and adaptors, he had been running it for 3 years without any issues but I've heard that the Predator gas engines are a throw away engine. Although they're very low cost I wouldn't want to have to replace frequently. Who knows maybe they'll last longer than I imagine.

Is the output shaft of the Honda the same length, diameter and have the correct key way as your old engine? You may have to the yoke sleeve modified by a machine shop to fit the Honda output shaft. That would be the best plan. Drill new holes in you engine mounting plate should be easy enough. To get the correct horizontal alignment you may need some flat stock to put between the engine base and the mounting plate.
