Electric PTO Sticking JD 112L

While the engine is running, the deck pulley spins all the time, even when the pto switch is off, however, when the engine is off, but the key is in the on position, when I flick the pto switch I hear a click and the pulley engages and disengages just fine. The deck is off of the mower now, so will it work fine once I get the deck put back on? Thanks!
