hi guys! i have a 2001 white LT1850, been a great mower for me. i have just over 2 acres to maintain and over the years only replaced starter and battery.... the problem im having is with the pto knob. sometimes when i pull the knob to engage the deck nothing happens.. how do i test or isolate the problem if its the switch or is there something else i need to look at?

thanks!!

Use a voltmeter at the switch to make sure it is getting power. If so, then see if the switch is good. If it is, then make sure that power is getting to the clutch. If it is, then make sure the ground is good. If all of those are good, then turn the PTO on while the ignition switch is in the run position. If it is working at all, you will hear a click at the clutch. If you do, the clutch is probably out of adjustment. There are three bolts sticking out the front of the clutch. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the friction plate and the back side of the clutch pulley. Tighten each of the bolts in a circular pattern a little at a time until the clearance is in spec. I don't have that spec in front of me, so maybe someone that knows will chime in.
