Hi I'm new to forum and I mowed my yard yesterday then as I was almost done the blades on my dixon 3014 disengaged I have power to my switch cause when I pull the p.t.o. and not sitting on seat it kills the mowers engine but if I'm setting on seat it does not die I checked every thing and still won't engage help please.

I'm a little confused....."not sitting on seat it kills the mower"....don't all ZTR's(mine does) shut the engine down if the PTO is "engaged" and you are not sitting on the seat???? And "when sitting on the seat it does not die"...again sounds like normal operating procedures to me as well:0(
Blades should never engage when there is no rider......that's basically what the seat "kill switch" is for......isn't it?????

Error I'm posting this for your information, wiring diagrams are included when searching for your particular engine. If you purchase a multimeter tool, instructions included, along with your wiring diagram you can locate your problem and make repair.

It's a safety feature. They don't want people getting off the mower when blades are on---could be very dangerous.

With somebody sitting on the seat, with the key on, engage the blades, and check to see if you have 12v at the plug on the clutch. If no power most likely the switch is bad, if you have power then the clutch may be bad. Normal ohm readings on the clutch should be 2.4-3.4 ohms.

on a similar problem, my 1998 ZTR model 3014 just developed this problem. At any given time, while mowing, the blade clutch will turn off. After a short time, I start mower up and clutch will engage. New clutch switch needed? Could it be a short somewhere? Baffled.
