My old Dixie has been running great but recently it's been very hard to start. Cranks for 10-15 seconds before it slowly hits and runs. Today I fixed the fuse wire going from the starter to the wiring harness that had broken causing it not to start. N now it starts again. But I have an issue

It cranks a long time still (10 seconds or so). Slowly hits and then runs all while smoking *TONS* of white smoke. It runs for about 10-15 seconds and then suddenly dies. I went to check the engine oil and saw oil bubbling up at the top of the fill tube. As we watched the oil quit bubbling and went back down.

I did pressure wash it just get some grease off to work on the starter but the engine was cold and I didn't spray the carb area and didn't see any wires come loose.

In summary:
1. Very hard to start
2. Lots of white smoke
3. Bubbling oil in the fill tube
4. Dies alter 10-15 seconds

Any idea what might be going on?

Was the oil level high ?
Did the oil feel thin & smell like fuel ?
