Anyone ever pull off the diaphragm carb and replace it and the tank with a standard carb an top side gas tank on a flat head briggs, single cylinder push mower engine? Would be an 11 cube recoil start old school motor.

What are you trying to accomplish by doing that?

What model and type number engine are you dealing with. Would be very helpful if you would provide us with more info so we can give you a better answer.

This would be on the mower in the avatar, 110982 4 hp Briggs, on the third or fourth diaphragm carb, and numerous replacement diaphragms. Have another old mower with a 12 cube flathead with the standard float carb, never a problem. Like to round up a float carb with a choke and the gas tank on the top shroud, fix it once and for all. Just wondered if anyone had ever done this, seems possible.

What is happening that you need to replace carbs? They generally don't give a lot of problems and are easy to service.

Mowers are put away for the winter here. Pretty deep in the shed. Just wondering if anyone had done this before. I'll dig into it next spring and give a report if I can make it work. Thanks for the replies!
