WARNING AND DISCLAIMER: Those who are PC and love bugs are NOT advised to view the attachment here. Guts EVERYPLACE !!! REAL VIOLENCE !!!

Found a yellow jacket nest in the side of my north barn last nite while push mowing, got a few stings in the process. Could not get close enuff to spray the varmints, so this morning I went out really early and blocked the access hole with a rag, set up a pair of ladders and about 20 feet of wands, and a hose connecting them to a 3 hp shop vac. As dawn came, I ran by and pulled out the rag after turning on the vacuum, leaving about 3 inches between end of wands and hole. Then every few minutes I would bang wand against hole, stirring up bees who either flew out and got sucked in, or if they escaped the first time, they try to get back in the hole or sting the wand. I was laughing so hard while feeling them rattle down the wands as they got sucked in, my neighbors must have thought I am nuts. SO TRUE !!!:laughing::thumbsup::laughing::laughing::thumbsup:

And you are just going to wait for them to die in the vac, or did you gas them Auschwitz -style?

You monster. You really hate Mother Earth, don't you?

The vac is so powerful when they hit the inside of the tank they LITTERLY (pun intended) come apart. I did online research, yellow jackets do not pollinate much and are very aggressive, mean bees. I have honeybee nests and bumblebee nests around here but those I will not touch those nests because those bees pollinate crops.

Yellow jackets are the scum of the bee world, they actually kill other types.

Like we are the scum of the forum world, and kill all the apple pie harmony that is sought after?

Honeybees are AWESOME, and should be protected at all costs - they are the biggest pollinators, right? They (honeybees) can also be a MEAN cuss if you hit them with a mower - they will CHASE YOU DOWN until they sting you - I know.....

Honey Bees (except the ones that are Africanized" {killer bee} ) will usually not bother you unless you bother the nest.

Yellow Jackets are basically good for nothing and will chase you down. YJ can sting repeatedly when you have been stung once, the rest smell it and swarm to that smell !
Honey Bees only sting once, but the stinger stays and keeps pumping until removed.

We ran into Ground YJ nest by the cistern when working on JRs water problem - figured we had them taken care of and a couple days later........
They Were BACK
The Vacuum is a good idea if you have a power cord that reaches to where they are and can get the thing started before they start after you.

About ten years ago I found a YJ nest in the ground, I filled a push mower with gas one morning, started it up, taped the deadman control down and pushed it atop the nest. What will lift grass blades will also lift bugs....:laughing:
