Greetings all. I have a Snapper 21405P lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton 111702 Type 3047-01 Code 88040728. It's an oldie, but it's still cranking away. I want to do some maintenance on it myself, but I'm having issues finding a manual that shows comparable parts. Specifically, I need to replace the air cleaner but all of the documents I can find show a rectangular air cleaner whereas mine has a round air cleaner. Any help on where I could find that part number, would be most helpful.
On a side note, last time I had it serviced (about 5 years ago), the old-timer, repair tech was baffled by it, and wondered where it came from. At the time, I was perplexed by his questioning, but I think I'm beginning to understand.
Can't come up with a part number right now. but I suspect some time back the blower housing has been swapped from another engine, possibly due to broken starter rope or starter spring. It was common for people to swap housing due to starter issues. Which create the problem that you have now. Can't locate correct diagram because of incorrect model number.
look up the parts diagram for the 110902-3189-01 and see if that is your air cleaner item number 445 precleaner and 445a air cleaner element.
ILENGINE - Thanks for the reply. That cleaner definitely looks more like what I have, though the diagram of that engine doesn't look like mine. I'm the original owner of this mower, and I'm pretty confident that everything on this engine is original. I wonder if they stamped the engine with the wrong numbers? Maybe when I get home this evening, I'll post a photo. I'm heading to my local parts guy today to check out that filter in person. Thanks again for the great advice and pointing me in the right direction!
