Hello folks, new member here,
I have a problem with the 16.5HP/500 CC Briggs & Stratton engine on my Dixon Ztr mower. My problem is that it idles way too fast, and it nearly always backfires when I shut the engine down. I always let it idle a minute or two before turning it off, but it usually backfires anyway. Other than that, it runs great.
I am wondering if the carb just needs to be adjusted as it will probably stop backfiring if the idle speed is decreased? Any help with a procedure to adjust the carb (or any other suggestions) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
lkfork
