Blades wont engage - Help needed!!!!

Two weeks ago was mowing and blades stopped - had similar problem 7 years ago and it was the clutch - So I replaced the clutch yesterday and I can hear begin to engage but then stops. Battery new this year and looks like has enough amps for power.

Any hints?

There are members here that believe electric clutches never cause problems, are the the best thing since sliced bread and hopefully one will be along shortly to help solve your expensive problem.

Senior Citizen - any other hints as to why they wont engage - I would hate to take it in when it might be something I could fix myself. By the way, if it makes any difference which I do not think it does, the type of scag mower that I have is a scag cougar. any help is appreciated.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I don't own a mower with an elect. clutch and don't want one. The only elect. clutch I have experienced was one on a car A/C compressor, with an intermittent problem, the dealer was too stupid to fix. It's problem was a funkie little elect. connector at the clutch that I shimmed with a piece of AL foil and said " there, I fistzed it". It was still working the day the deputy sheriff rear ended the car in a left turn lane and totaled it.

Posting the model, serial number and engine type make it easier for other members to assist you in diagnosing your machines problem(s).
You need to perform an electrical system check.
Possible problem areas:
All electrical connectors, disconnect, inspect and clean, but disconnect the battery first.
All ground connections.
Battery/power connections.
PTO switch.
Key switch.
