I have an old Craftsman push mower that runs great. Original blade got bent up pretty good so I can't really measure the length. Trying to replace it, I find that a 22" will fit and rotate around but there is very little clearance to the mower body. Next size down seems to be a 21 but a half inch clearance seems kind of excessive. The mower is too old and worn to find a model number. Which blade length would you go with? Engine is B&S 3.5hp if that helps. Thanks.

The 22" model if it has a 5/8 round hole would be a 21-3/4 blade measure diagonally. The 5 point star would be a 21-15/16" blade measure diagonally.

My Antique 22" Flatty B&S push mow has the 5 point star. the clearance around the blade tips to deck is pretty close, in a few areas. I couldn't even get my lil finger in between.

Just FYI. It still has the OE blade, can't find another.
