My Better Outdoor Products Quick36 needs a new center spindle. They have been out of business for 10-yrs but it’s a great, strong mower otherwise and I’d hate to junk it. Sad in tallgrassville looking for an “obsolete” part.

Very few companies make their own spindles or blades so most are bought in items.
So pop a photo in and see is some one can recognise it

3B7DFD71-F5FC-41D4-BA7F-AB391C506230.jpegthis spindle is 6” long. Has two pulleys for belts. Top pulley is a deeper “V” than the lower pulley. Each pulley is the same diameter at 4 15/16” across. Thanks

Good for a start but we need to see the bolt pattern at the flange , the thread size for the blade bolt & the top of the shaft where the pulleys fit as some have a hex, some have a key & others are splined .
Stens , Rotary, Prime Line & Oregon all list mandrels or spindles or jackshafts in their catalogues along with the relevent dimensions

I have some images and they are in a folder. I’m trying to figure out how to attach the images to this site. Thank you very much for your help. I agree, somebody made that spindle FOR better outdoor products.

Resize them ( with resampling ) in your favourite photo editing softwear to 12 " @ 72 dpi as a jpg
That will drop the file size to a couple of hundred kb and SAVE the image so the computer / phone changes the file size
Then you can drag & drop into your reply
A single reply will be limited to about 8 photos of that size

I have an I phone and I don’t understand anything you just said. vvvvvvvvv type of attachment from the spindle to the pulley. I’m thinking the spindle maybe fine it’s just the metal part that contains the spindle that’s the culprit. How would I know if the spindle is broken? I can see the metal containment piece is certainly broken.

Yes the housing is history
Take the shaft out and look at it
It is just a length of steel with a thread at each end

The shaft of the spindle looks straight it’s just the housing around the spindle that is broken. I’m thinking of taking it to a machine shop to see what they could do. Worth a shot before I trash the whole mower.
