I'm looking to purchase an electric mower. I have a gas powered one but want an electric one for the little jobs. Which ones work the best?

Are you looking for a push mower or are you looking for a weed whacker. You said little jobs, so some do those with weed whackers and you can get those electric for cheaper.

Well probably a push mower for a 60x40 plot of land. I keep my patio furniture in that area and would hate to start the gas mower up for that small of a plot. I consider that a small job .

The best electric mowers are those that have been "rode hard and put up wet." That is, all the good ones have been used up and parts are obsolete.

Of those, you'd likely want to find:
*Black & Decker U273/8020/8021 18" Deluxe Dual Blade (1967-1976) (flip over handle)
*Black & Decker U274/8040 22" Deluxe Dual Blade (1968-1976) (flip over handle)
*Black & Decker 8010/8008/8009 18" Deluxe Single Blade (1970-1987) (8009 has a 2-speed motor)
*Black & Decker 8018 18" Deluxe Single Blade (1984-1987) (flip over handle)
*Sears Craftsman 9041 (1973) (flip over handle) (same as Sunbeam LE18T)
*Sears Craftsman 9042 (1973) (flip over handle) (same as Sunbeam LE18)
*Sears Craftsman 9066 (1974) (flip over handle) (same as Sunbeam LE18T)
*Sears Craftsman 9141 (1975-1977) (flip over handle) (same as Sunbeam LE18T)
*Sears Craftsman 91411 (1978-1979) (flip over handle) (same as Sunbeam 3127)
*Sears Craftsman 91412 (1980-1984) (flip over handle) (same as Sunbeam 3129, 4218)
*Sears Craftsman 91384 (1983) (flip over handle) (same as Sunbeam 4119/5119)
*Sears Craftsman 3702 (1985) (flip over handle) (same as Mastercut 4119/4219/5219)
*Sears Craftsman 3704 (1985) (same as Mastercut 4420 Easy Mower)

Given the small size of your plot, I'd recommend the WORX WG775 battery powered electric mower that is currently on sale from the manufacturer's eBay store for $179.99 with free shipping.

Buy Worx 24V 14" Cordless Lawn Mower WG775 | eBay
