Mower deck Belts Question.

I have a Sears LT 10 36. I have the engine running well enough to try the mower deck.
It has been setting for a long time and it shakes real good then the blades are engaged.
The BELT has a"set" in it. It seems to be in OK shape.
The question is...Will it smooth out in a short time after it gets warm?
Are there any replacement belts that don't get a "set"?

Not sure what a set in the belt is. But if the belt has a bad spot on it then the deck will shake.
Or the blades are bent or broke or a spindle bearing is bad or a loose or bad pulley.

the same thing happened to mine, it was a spindle bearing and on my yard machines. the deck shook like crazy, like carscw

Must have been one BAD bearing.:thumbsup:

how long has it been setting? over a period of years, i have rubber tires take on a unusual shape from the freezing and warming up of the rubber. pulled out a tire a week ago that had been buried under a block, and instead of the flat surface where the tire meets the ground it had a vee shape to it. put in on the trailer rim and it straightened out after a couple of days use. i had to do this for a emergency purpose, but i told my freind he better by a new tire, as this memory in the tire also weakened it.

:smile:Remove the deck drive belt and then fire the tractor up and see if the noise and vibration goes away. If it does theres your problem. Don B.

To cold out to work on the mower. It will be at least a week or so before we get in the 40's.
I know its in the deck because it is fine until I engage the deck drive linkage.
The belt, when slack, has an "s" in it between the pulley's (or set) I'll take picture when I get the snow
off it cover. I have had the mower only a short time and I don't know all the maintenance or part removal yet. I had to get it to run better. I do want to remove the deck and rebuild it. But I would like to use at least once.

:smile: I hear you on the weather, it was 6 deg's this AM. Well its your choice to run the deck in that condition. I would not take a chance of tearing something else up. If it was me, I pull the deck and check everything. Its been along time since I worked on a LT10-36, but I do not remember it being to involed to pull the deck. Don B.
