The rear-engine MTD 30" riding mower like this Cub Cadet and many others; Murray, Craftsman, Troy-Bilt, etc. with the plastic coated steel wire battery restraint/support.
First disconnect the battery, then remove the top restraint which has a 1/2" bolt to the body. Now, grasp the lower support and the battery at the same time. Raise them until the restraint comes out of its indexing holes, at which point you can lower it while drawing it to you out of the mower. This avoids having to tilt the battery while trying to work it out of the support which could possibly spill battery acid. Replace the battery in the reverse order of how you took it out.cub-cadet-rear-engine-riding-mowers-cc30h-4f_1000.jpg
