B&S carb issue

Heya, have an old walk behind string trimmer with a 6hp B&S engine. Seems like whenever it gets on a slope more than 10° it cuts out. Changed the old carb out thinking the float was getting stuck, but not much better performance. I've got a lot of vertical terrain on the property which is a little sketchy for the lawn tractor, so I need something I can use on foot. Is there a type of carb that is better suited to handling grades, or am I just SOL and need to do 2 acres with a weed whacker?

it doesn't have a a low oil shutdown does it?
Need a little more info on the engine such as the model number so we can see which particular fuel system it has on it.
