I live in NY state and through the many years I have tried just about everything for snow removal. This pass summer I mounted a plow on my ATV. For some reason this winter we have only had one real bad and deep snow storm for me to really try it out in, like 2 ft. of snow. I have found that if we have 12in. or more of heavy snow it just doesn't have the traction to make that first hard push of snow. But once I do get that first path made if I take smaller bites it works very good. For lifting the plow I find I prefer the manual lift over the winch lift, I tried them both. I do find if I have to really have to move deep snow, (3 to 4 foot hard pack) like the end of drive way where town plows the road, my snow blower on my garden tractor works best. If you do try it I really think it will work out for you if you realize what you don't have a 3 ton pick-up truck pushing your snow.
