Wow the house must have been a hundred years oldAnd for what it is worth, that was the worst roofing tear off job I have ever done in my life, look at how thick the layers are !!!!
Don't want to scare anybody with a picture of me !
About the roof - When I was in high school Dad and I tore off the roof in the house we were living in.
I'm not sure how many layers, but the last nails used were 3" and had not touched the roof sheeting boards. This was in upstate NY where we got SNOW -- I know the house had full 2"x4" hardwood studs and were full length from sill plate to attic. The 2nd floor joist were notched into the studs. We were told that the first owner / builder owned a lumber mill.
Our house at the time was over 100 years old in the 60s. The first layer was Cedar Shakes and then MANY layers of shingles and tar paper. The layers were over 3" thick.
If I put a pic in with the Ventrac maybe people can look at the tractor instead of me !

I would but right now I am dealing with a huge stalker that has gotten to the point of court ordered restraining order, the fool follows me around all places so for now just think of me as the person behind the keyboard. I do love seeing people though and putting names with faces, ahhh, maybe one day.
