Mower is one eaer old, runs great but it sounds like she is running rich (loping idle) and I wonder if this is normal or am I too sensitive to a one cylinder engine. I did not get a engine manual with the mower but assume them idle mixture screw is similar to a auto in that a clock wise turn makes her richer and a ccw turn makes her leaner. suggestions.

You have it backwards. Clockwise makes the mixture leaner.

When they lope like that, called "hunting" they're not getting enough gas and running LEAN. Usually blowing out black smoke when they're too RICH and won't throttle up either way.
