Im going after a red Sears Craftsman 48in deck mower with Briggs Intek vtwin. I went diagnosed it for the customer last summer of having 3 of 4 pushrod broken with the 4th possible bent but both pistons still up/down in the cylinders. Is this engine considered blown or is it still salvageable for repair to use again by replacing all 4 pushrods and gasket set? Charged the customer $25 for mobile service call fee. He offered the whole mower to me for $25. Right now all I have is its red Sears Craftsman 5000.

If the engine isn't seized its repairable. Replace push rods adjust valve new gasket set. Tune up sell whole machine $750 to 1000$

Edit I would find out why the rods broke/bent

I'll find out why they broke. I hope they didnt mark up the cylinders where it causes it lose compression. If am I gonna get $750-1000 then I'll to replace the hood/grille also. If remember right this the one where the hood and grille is replaced as one piece/unit/assy. I have no problem piecing it out on ebay if it turns into a big expense or money pit.

Ya I would make a list of all the parts your going to need. If you pull the head off and move the piston down you can look at the wall if its all beat to hell I would be wary

Doesn't matter if it's not repairable.
The parts will cover the cost, and more .

Ya even an engine swap would be feasable with what you bought it for.

Be easier just to tear it apart find what it needs. Cheaper if all its is pushrods and gasket set that needed for the engine.

Here's pic of mower, engine, and oil drain plug. PO drain plug would leak oil.

That drain plug is leaky. Take it out clean it put some gasket maker on it and put it back in. It'll seal without it getting stuck .
