I have a 6hp B&S Craftsman mower that when I try to start it, it won't start. I went ahead & cleaned the carb, as well as replaced the gaskets & the primer bulb. Before I did this the mower would start but only if you spray starter fluid in the intake. It will still start with the starter fluid but no go when trying to use the primer. I have another mower with the same style primer & it fires right up after pumping the primer 3 times.

It's the 6hp engine with the primer button on the front of the mower. I'm trying to get this mower fixed for a buddy of mine so any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Fresh gas, replace fuel filter, air filter, spark plug and gap to B&S specs., and adjust valves.

Locate engine numbers: model xxxxxx, type xxxx, trim xx and go to this website for specs.

If its the square air filter type 6hp then the primer is not pushing fuel up the main jet as the filter housing could be warped.
Fit 2 or 3 gaskets at housing to carb.
