I have a mower with a 5.5 Honda. I tried to use my oil extractor pump to change the oil but when pulling the hose out of the oil fill hole it got caught. When I pulled on hose the plastic connector/adaptor plug came off inside the oil tank. This is the reducer/adaptor plug that joins the larger diameter hose to the smaller one. I cant see it inside there, I tried tilting the motor on its side but it wouldn't come out. Is this likely to block/damage the oil pump or can I just leave it in there? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you

Pretty sure your engine doesn't have an oil pump. Mine doesn't. It might just get chewed up but have a piece of plastic in the crankcase can't be a good thing. I'd try hard to get that out of there.

Any ideas on how to get access to the oil tank besides the dipstick hole? I took out the threaded shroud that goes around the dipstick but could not locate the object. I shoved the hose down in there to try to get to the bottom of the oil supply but it snagged on something when I went to pull it out.

Not good. You hay have to open up the engine to get it. Its so easy to flip it over to drain out the oil, never use a sucky thing.
