46" deck can't figure out how to put the belt

I have a White 22hp with the 46" deck that has been eating pto belts. I have the manual and the proper belt right from mtd as per the book. There is no way that belt is going on the way they show. I have used a couple belts from Canadian Tire that were longer but they just don't last. Any ideas? Thanks.

Can you tell me the belt number that the manual said to use, then we could cross reference it and find a different one ,you need to use a good belt or they will not last the cheaper ones that is? I think if you have the right manual and it said to use this belt number for your mower then that is what should be used. You might have the belt not routed right around the pulleys is why it to short.Can you read the number on the old belt to get the same belt number again . Are you using the right belt width that will make a difference to make it to short or long and not work properly We need a mower model number to.
