Just got an 03 Turf Tiger 72" deck with 27hp Kawasaki. It seems to run fine, but I've noticed when the mower is sitting still and I engage the blades the mower just dies. However, if I am moving forward and engage the deck it seems to engage and work fine. Anyone know what this issue could be? It definitely worries me how every time you pull the engage knob is just cuts the engine off.

Thanks in advance

What position are the travel levers in when the engine shuts down?
With you machine serial number, you can go to the Scag website, click on operator manuals, find and download the manual specific to your machine.

Thanks I downloaded the proper owners manual.

It doesn't matter how I have the control levers in or out it just kills in when you pull out the engage knob.

Also i checked and both cylinders are running fine. Also I checked the ohms on the electric clutch and they are reading normal. Blades spin freely. What else could it be?

A fault in the pto switch
A govenor / idle speed set too low
Try bumping up the idle a bit and see if it does the same thing.
