i have a 11hp briggs vert. engine old type with the solid type carb the number is 252707 0660-01
and where you have the control plate for the throtle and choke. One of the small holes that hold the plate on is stripped.
do you think jb weld will hold new threads.

Drill the hole in the plate a little larger and use a self tapping screw or even a sheet metal screw.

i went to buy some self taping screws but they seem to long. can i drill the hole deeper or will i break into the sump.
i can grind the screws down but then there are hardly any threads left.

I would not drill deeper, use sheet metal screw.
