    Peerless 205-024C Hydrostatic Transaxle Sluggish

Neighbor brought this Murray Select Wide Body LT with above tranny. Engine is Briggs Opposed Twin and runs great (it's a repower). Tranny was packed 1" deep in dirt. Mower is slow and can't make a 10* grade. Sound like Tranny fluid has broken down from heat? I can pull transaxle & replace fluid...

Old MTD 18/46 14 Speed Transmatic ~1993 year

I saw 14 speed and thought "Wow - is this some super Peerless?" The more I looked, appears it's a Hi-Lo Selector - Stacked Pulley Drive. Sounds like a pain to get adjusted correctly. Can't see the need for 14 sp - maybe it's a marketing ploy. Anybody worked on one?

    TVS120 governor weight dislodged

Mowing with a TVS120 (1994 5.5hp L head) and the governor started acting wonky. I needed to replace the sump gasket anyway, so I pulled the sump and check out this gov. The right "L" weight short leg has slipped out to the middle of the spool. Such a tight clearance - it's not going back cuz...

Older Toro Super Recycler GTS - Engine Mounted 90* Left?

These puzzle me. Why 90* left? Looks like a Briggs 12xxxx. Weight distribution yields better mulching? Newer Toro Recyclers have the standard plug in front.

Murray Self Propelled Mower - curious

Never seen SP like this. Is there a lovejoy/transmission on the end of the crank to deliver horizontal power out to the pulley? I'm thinking of re-powering an old deck. Would this engine be "normal" at the crank? IE: pull the tranny off and just use a blade adapter on a push mower? Or maybe...

    Yardmax YG1650 Push Mower - 170cc Engine

I can't find anything about this engine - all I find is "Yardmax". Is it a Loncin or Predator? I'm looking to buy a new push mower cuz my 25-30yo Tecumsehs are gonna need a major overhaul soon. Anybody experienced these engines? Thanks.

Wheel bore diameter in newer Troy Bilt?

I just got an older Craftsman LT 917.257573 with bad front tires. The wheel bore is 3/4". I can find non-runner MTD LTs (Yard Machine, Yard Man, Huskee, Troy Bilt, maybe Cub Cadet) that are cheap enough to buy for parts. Is a newer MTD wheel bore 5/8" or 3/4"? Thanks, Doug

    HRM215 SP Mower Parts

A neighbor gave me above. First Honda I've had. I'm checking it over, seeing about parts . Carb is so bad that I want a new one. I input the serial GJAB-6575242 into Honda parts and got "not found". Maybe it's older than 2004. Just searching for HRM215 carb, I see 16100-ZG9-010. Does that seem...

Engine Tecumseh Engine ID for Sears 5.5hp Eager 1 143.955500?

On a 1994 Craftsman SP mower. I read a list that it was a TVS120 and ordered head gasket 32643. Way too small. Found out later on Sears IPL that it needs gasket 36477. Either seller listed gasket incorrectly or engine isn't a TVS120. Anybody have a cross reference - Tecumseh to Sears engine...

Briggs 18hp Opposed Twin - Solenoid Issues

Briggs 422707 18hp Opposed Twin in Craftsman lawn tractor ~ 1989 model. Got a new 3 lead solenoid cuz I was having hard crank issues and solenoid looked old and worn.. Briggs OEM 4441931 solenoid. Key switch to start gives a nice solenoid thunk but no starter action. Got 12.7v on battery side...

Craftsman 42cc chainsaw - Compression too low?

Saw is from 2002. Light duty - sawing 2 cords per year. Starts and idles well. Bogs down on throttle up and with any load on 18" bar/chain. Compression is 75 PSI. Added 10 drops 90wt gear oil to chamber and got 95 PSI. Should it be 110 - 130 PSI? Does this sound like cylinder walls scored and/or...
