What would I do besides making sure the valves are adjusted properly?

I really appreciate everyone's patience with this. Visually, it looks like the choke is closing. I adjusted the cable back, and it does seem to start easier. Not sure if the easier start was from the cable adjustment or because I started it about 4 hours ago. It is -15 wind chill here in WI...

I have tried with the cap off. Where would I look for a vacuum leak? Valve cover gaskets, and possibly the pump not getting good vacuum?

You may be on to something here. When I ran out of battery and hooked up my charger to try to start, the engine turned over faster and started quickly.

Going to put it back together with a new fuel line from tank to filter, and see where it's at.

Update: Removed the fenders and the tank. Tank was surprisingly clean (my wife was not too happy with the gas smell in the house from bringing the tank through to the basement!). Washed it out anyway. Tube and elbow clear. Maybe the fuel pump?

Well.....Wishful thinking. Went out tonight in the -20 wind chill and.......Cranked forever and took forever to "catch". Back to the drawing board..Grrr

When a took the fuel line off on the tank side of the filter, hardly any fuel came out. I blew out the line/backwards to tank and gas came gushing out (gravity). I put on a new filter and it started in about 1/2 a crank. Go figure. This engine has a fuel pump.

SOLVED! Clogged fuel line from the tank to the filter. Amazing how easily this thing starts when it has gas!!!

Briggs 350777 Replaced plugs, coils, adjusted valves. Have to turn it over for 20-30 seconds to get it to start. Once started runs fantastic. What am I missing? Some kind of fuel problem? Replaced fuel pump a couple of years ago.

Used the business card to gap the coils. Still hard to start, like 20-30 seconds of cranking. Double check the valves and they were LOOSE! Adjusted the valves and STARTED! Runs great. Thanks to all. Mechanic Mark is da maaaaaaann!!

Good news and bad news to report. Good news is that it will start. Bad news is that it takes 20-30 seconds or more of cranking. Before replacing coils, unit would start in 5-10 seconds.

So, you're thinking that I do not have enough gap on the coils? Adjusted the valves to .006 prior to replacing coils and started easily. Am I taking that damn shroud off again?......GRRRRRRR I did use OEM coils. 350777 1152-E1 99102111

I used a piece of paper folded in half to cap the coils from the flywheel.

Replaced both coils and 2 new Champion RC12YC plugs. Runs GREAT, and no more pop pop pop when increasing the rpm when hot. BUT.....Engine used to start easily when cold before replacing coils and plugs. Now difficult to start. Turns over easily. What changed????????

Got them off easy with a 7mm box wrench. Thanks to all!

I may have been wrong on 5/16. Could it be 9/32? Metric? maybe 7mm?

I'm replacing the coils on a Vanguard 350777, 18HP. I can't get on the coil bolts with a socket because the flywheel is in the way. Use a 5/16 box wrench? Thank you!

I adjusted the deck so that it is lower in the front......SOLVED!

I need some help with the proper adjustment of the 50" deck on my Broadmoor. Grass comes out the regular exit, but I get a LOT out of the front. What am I doing wrong?

The deck belt is fine. The drive belt is loose. I will get under there today and take a closer look.

18 HP Broadmoor. Heard something flopping around today, and noticed that the drive belt is loose. Is there an adjustment for that? When I replaced it a couple of years ago, I used the Simplicity OE belt.

Have a bad coil on 350777-1152. Anyone know the replacement part number? When I look online, several are suggested. Many thanks -

I have a Simplicity Turbo collection blower 1694304. For the life of me, I cannot find the number for the replacement belt. Does anyone have the Simplicity number or dimensions?

Great News - I think it was a combination of dirty carb and old/bad gas. Cleaned things out and it runs like a champ! Thanks to Rivets and bertsmobile1!!

My Father-In-Law's single stage snowblower (Engine 12D105-0010-F8) starts on one pull and runs great with very slight choke. Normally, my brother-in-law runs the machine. Last weekend I used it. When engaging the auger the machine will backfire and lose power momentarily. Same thing happens...
