    Honda GCV160 No Start

This is interesting. Every time I used my pressure washer, I ran the fuel out of the carb in an effort to limit the possibility of gunking it up during the long periods between use. Maybe I did it to myself.

    Honda GCV160 No Start

Spent some time with it yesterday. Turns out that the "zero clearance" issue I thought I had with the exhaust valve was really just me not having the piston at TDC and ensuring that the cam marks were lined up. When I did that, what I really had on the exhaust was HUGE clearance - like well...

    Honda GCV160 No Start

Interesting - seems that if the valve broke, wouldn't the valve be attempting to float around in the combustion chamber? I'm not hearing anything unusual - wish I had one of those "pen light cameras" to look in there. Bent valve is sounding more likely. Or maybe a bent rocker arm. Maybe I...

    Honda GCV160 No Start

I'm cross posting information to this thread from another - in the hopes of getting help. Is it possible that the exhaust valve "adjusted itself" to zero clearance? I've never heard of that happening on a "screw and nut" style of valve train. NO ONE has been into this motor (I bought it new)...

Honda GCV160 Mower "kickback" when starting

On every "non-hydraulic" valve train that I am familiar with, the clearance typically decreases with wear, as the valve seats and valves wear over time and use. None the less, I do have NO clearance on the exhaust valve now. No one has been into this motor, as I bought it new. If I slide the...

Honda GCV160 Mower "kickback" when starting

In post #5 of this thread, I'm trying to figure out which position the decompressor needs to be in the slot with the motor at rest. Looking at it from the top (as shown), mine is all the way to the right. If I slide it to the left, it does retract (very slowly) back to the right. My exhaust...

    Honda GCV160 No Start

Greetings: (I searched before I posted) Honda GCV160 motor won't start. I'm not a mechanical genius, but I've "turned wrenches" for a long time. This is what I've done/know: 1. Won't run on carb fluid or starting fluid. 2. Cleaned carb thoroughly (trust me, that ain't it) 3. has what I...
