It has a governed idle circuit. I find if you will speed the idle up a tad it will stop it when you idle it down.

Yes it would work just fine there. Why did You not get the original switch. Do you know all the terminals are the same on the two switches. Getting the wrong switch could blow the ignition modules.

If you hit something hard enough to stop the blade and cause the belt to slip it could have burnt a flat spot on the belt.

That is the easiest carb there is to fix just take the white center piece out and clean the main jet in the bottom of the carb. If you want to fix it so they don't stop up again order the new main jet assy. They moved the main jet from the bottom to the top.

It will not do any good to just put the axle seal in, it will just blow it out again. The problem is in the inner seals. Do the whole kit.

Could be the PTO switch. Start circuit goes through the PTO Switch.

The bolt that holds the ider arm on could be loose as well.The idler arm is a flat piece of stock and has not bushing in it. If it is loose tighten the bolt tight and back it off just so the arm moves freely.

Spark plugs don't make spark they just put it in the cylinder and ignites the fuel air mixture in the cylinder.

Were you having an issuse with it to try and set the gov to start with? Setting the gov is very percise and not much room to play with if it is set wrong it will blow the gov inside the engine and you will have to replace it.

That belt is for the eagle. Which is a one belt system for the deck. The Classic is a two belt system to the deck.

A fuel shut off solenoid does not shut off the fuel coming into the carb and will not stop the engine from flooding. It stops the fuel from going into the engine from the carb. If the needle and seat are leaking it will still flood the engine through the bowl vent.

Sounds like a Magnum 2460. I would look at the motion idler arm. Those mowers had a propensity for the idler arm to make noise. If that is the issue you can take some kind of pry tool and stick it between the end of arm and the frame and bend it down until it stop making the noise.

Kohler does not make a Vanguard engine, that would be a Briggs.
