    B & S 17.5 HP Problem

They don't call them "Breaks and scrapem'" for nothing. If they break, scrap them, because they are not worth fixing because they will just break again.🤦🏼‍♂️

    Kohler engines is no more.

I wish they didn't make it all these parts in China and with weak materials. I wish they still made engines that are designed to last more than 10 years, like the old Briggs opposed/boxer twin engines. Those were solid engines.👌🏼

    Farewell to a Legend @Startech

Well fellow mechanics, we have lost one of our most valuable forum members a couple days ago, Startech. I swear, this guy was literally in almost every post and was top poster of the month more times than I can count. He had 11,048 posts. Think of all the people he has helped on this forum with...

    Oil coming out fuel pump

Ditto, blown head gasket, although, sometimes i see that wispy smoke on engines with good head gaskets, specifically briggs vtwins. Anyway, I'm not sure that that engine is supposed to have a fuel pump, usually those singles dont.

    Craftsman T1200 - Won’t Start

What engine is on the riding mower? We need the model number off the engine shroud. You have fuel, and compression which leaves air, spark, and timing. I would lean towards timing, so check the flywheel key and the valves. I bet the flywheel key is sheared. Maybe the valves came loose? I would...

    Needing a Used Carburetor

What is usually do is buy one of those aftermarket carbs and use those new parts to rebuild the old one. Don't use the aftermarket carb shell! They don't make them to the quality standards of the old ones!

    Gas in the oil.

Crap Rivets, you beat me to it

    Gas in the oil.

The carburetor float needle is either sticking or not sealing properly. Take the carb apart and clean it and look for a indent on the needle tip. if it has one, it most likely needs to be replaced. You have two options if this is the case: #1. find a carburetor rebuild/overhaul kit #2. Buy an...

To buy or not to buy

I just saw the listing you mention and personally, I would go for it, not much to lose as long as it doesn't seem sketchy or anything. It looks like it hasn't been used in a while from the photos.

    RS800 transmission reverse is weak

My craftsman T3000 is losing its reverse drive, it has the general transmissions rs800 cvt transaxle. I replaced the belt and cvt pulley only a few months ago. The belt has a small bit of wear but doesn’t appear stretched. Is there any adjustment somewhere in the linkage that I can adjust to get...

    Kohler SV735 Rod Knock?

Bolts were tight, like, really tight. Guess it’s something internal. I won’t worry about it.

What Paint for Craftsman Professional Deck?

Hey guys, I picked up a Craftsman Pro series T7400 and the previous owner had re-welded the deck mounting brackets. The paint he used in no way matched the color of the deck but whatever. I bought some rust-oleum golden sunset (gloss) from ace hardware but it’s way too light yellow compared to...

D110 JD w/19 hp Briggs surges constantly

Take apart the carb and clean it out. Replace seals, float and needle if necessary. As you put the carb on, watch a video or two showing the linkage and replicate it on yours. If the problem persists replace spark plugs. Still no joy then adjust governor. Good luck 👍

Are Kohler 7000 series good engines? What do you think?

I bought a Craftsman T7400 with a Kohler KT735 (140 hours) V-Twin. Runs great no problems and only 140 hours. I also have a Craftsman YT4500 with a Kohler SV735(350 hours) that’s got Terrible rod knock. The engines look identical down to the valve covers but with a different engine shroud. My...

    Kohler SV735 Rod Knock?

That’s actually a good point, I had a courage single a while ago that had vibrated the bolts out to the point that there were none left 😅 I will check those bolts.

Briggs& Stratton engine will not turn over

380 posts later and still having problems means the engine probably isn't worth your time, just my $0.50. (for those who forgot to factor in inflation, its $0.50 now, not $0.02 :l)

Briggs& Stratton engine will not turn over

I'm just happy I don't have to deal with one of those never-ending problem engines like what you have, there's a reason that I only run v-twins or V8s.😎
