    Best oil? High zinc?

This oil works just fine. Millions of small engines have been run on about every oil out there. How many have worn the cam and lifters because of oil failure? Some engine have plastic lobe cams that are fairly soft and they don't wear with regular oils and no filter. Small engines have slow...

    That's expensive

Thanks. This is for a personal project. I am restoring a 70's era JD 111 mower. Every year at the town's farm day parade (yes, I live in a small hick town) farmers bring their big green tractors out. I will have the smallest green thing. So far new tires, starter. Carb, seat. New decals...

Toro SS 5000 Electronic Brake Won't Release

Every electrical problem I have had with that e brake system was bad connections with pins in the connector to the module. Not easy to test either. If the brake doesn't release when the levers are pulled in the module may not be sensing them. I am not a fan of that system.

    Stihl 2stroke oil

Any oil that is JASO FD rated will work fine. I run Red Armor in my chainsaws and a generic FD oil in everything else. I have 6 different 2 stroke oils and they all work fine. I find the stihl synthetic clogs spark arrestors more than any other oil unless the equipment is run hard and hot.

John Deere GX 335 runs rough, excessive black smoke

Don't know about that engine but some engines when the crankcase vent plugs up the crankcase gets pressurized and can cause excessive blowby and cause oil burning and upset the proper air flow in the carb. Just something to check.

    Info on stens shipping

I have turned down work on some equipment because I just didn't want to be bothered chasing parts. I don't do anything on transmissions or hydros. Get some "The Right Stuff". It is better than RTV silicone sealants. Be sure surfaces are clean and oil free. Appy a liberal bead to the cover and install and thread bolts down till they SLIGHTLY compress the sealant. Wait about an hour then torque the bolts down.

Digital Battery Load testers what Load

The new battery testers calculate the amp capacity by measuring the internal resistance of the battery and the voltage. I have 3 different ones and they all get the same readings. They will tell you voltage, state of charge and state of health and CCA amps.

    Non ethanol fuel question

The one place i have found where E10 is a problem is with old equipment with steel gas tanks. I work on a lot of old stuff. Before ethanol pure gas didn't attract water and rust out tanks. High octane fuels are harder to ignite BUT once ignited they burn slightly slower than lower octane rated fuels. In a 4 stroke engine running 3600 RPM the difference is negligible if even measurable. In hopped up 2 stroke chainsaws running 13000+ RPM doing max pulls in wood guys have seen a...

All the saw mfgrs say to use 90+ rated fuel or it will damage the saw. I don't think so. I have serviced over a hundred customer saws run on regular 87 E10 gas.
